At Sienna Senior Living, we are privileged to have dedicated volunteers who delight in spending quality time with our residents. Their commitment to donating their time enhances our residents' social engagement and well-being. Throughout the year, there are countless stories of volunteers who bring their skills and talents to our communities to share special moments with residents. National Volunteer Appreciation Week is one way to recognize and spotlight these acts of kindness and dedication.
Ellen is a shining example of how volunteers enrich seniors' lives at Case Manor Community in Bobcaygeon, Ontario.
Ellen's connection with Case Manor began not as a volunteer but as a visitor, accompanying loved ones who lived in the community. From 2007 to 2010, Ellen visited her mother, and from 2009 to 2013, her mother-in-law, who was also a resident. Her connection to Case Manor continued as she supported a friend through their mother's residency from 2015 to 2020. Ellen's role gradually shifted from visitor to volunteer, remaining an integral part of the community.
Ellen first shared her gift of music with Case Manor alongside her husband. Their fiddle band brought concerts and joy to the residents, stirring memories and creating new ones. Following this, Ellen initiated a crocheting and knitting club.
As we recognize and thank all volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, Ellen's story is just one of many that demonstrates a sense of community everyone can benefit from. Like all volunteers at Sienna, her dedication emphasizes the incredible impact of collective effort and individual commitment. Thank you to all volunteers – you are making a world of difference!
